We believe there’s a massive overhang in what small groups could accomplish together. Our mission is to make sure they become not just more intelligent, but wiser.
Vision
Our vision is a world with more and healthier collective agency—from small groups to global coalitions. We believe that improved collective agency would make humanity’s largest challenges easier to manage effectively. Healthy collective agents are more self-aware, self-nourishing, externally connected, and wise than most groups we see today. They carry meaning across levels, and find ways to share information, resources, and power—resulting in more-aligned influence at larger scales.
Mission
Our mission is to uplift healthy collective agency using AI and other processes. Technology that’s well-integrated into the deepest intentions of collectives can amplify the aligned impact of those groups while increasing the meaningful engagement of its individuals. When successful, these uplifted collectives will be compelling to be part of, to join, and to emulate. The unhealthier the broader ecosystem becomes, the brighter beacons healthy collectives will be. We also aim to weave collectives together, creating a healthier internet-scale social fabric that improves on today’s societal sensemaking.
Our strategy is to build for ourselves and our friends first, using the experience to iterate based on what is most impactful. We want our tools to catalyze collective agency in ways that are asymmetrically beneficial—in part by leaning heavily into design principles (such as prioritizing alignment at all levels) that are more effective for cooperative groups than exploitative ones.
Forward from here
BRKT is making forays into the neglected field of collective agency. We’re building the processes and digital substrate of a future where people find and enter collaborations fluidly, where these collaborations are natural and healthy, and where humanity moves smoothly toward more collective wisdom and competence.
Team

BRKT is Blake Borgeson, Kathleen Finlinson, Timothy Telleen-Lawton, and Rob Gordon. We met during the Future of Life Foundation’s AI for Human Reasoning Fellowship and have been building together since.
